Cambria Custom Events – Vendor Feature

Today I would like to introduce to you a very special friend of mine and also a fellow wedding vendor.  Cami Geiger, of Cambria Custom Events, is truly a professional in the wedding business.  Her style, attention to detail, and the care she gives to each and every wedding is truly priceless.  Cami and I have been friends since our college years.  She was the florist at my own wedding in 2000.  Her work speaks for itself.  Today, I would like to introduce you to her, her studio and her thoughts on the wedding business.

Recently I spent some time at her studio in Churubusco, IN.  It’s about and hour from doorstep to doorstep.  We talked in depth about the wedding business, current trends and etc.  Her studio is beautiful (as you can imagine).   The reason I want to introduce you to Cambria Custom Events, is because having a wedding coordinator/event planner is the perfect way to take a lot of stress out of the wedding planning process as well as the wedding day.  And frankly, Cami is thee best!

Please welcome, Cami Geiger, to the blog.

Enjoy her insight on the wedding industry, along with photos of her beautiful work.

Amy: Tell us a little about yourself:
Cami: I’ve always had a passion for design. On a daily basis, my eyes are open to the amazing design inspiration from God’s creation all around us. I am inspired by color, architecture, nature and other designers. In 1997, I began my education in design by attending Hixson’s School of Floral Design just outside of Cleveland, OH. This was an amazing experience for me. I was employed at a silk floral design shop for a couple of years and started doing custom floral designing for clients in the Fort Wayne area. My floral design experience led into interior design. My clients began inquiring about space planning and accessorizing their homes and businesses. I was happy to oblige. I continued my design education through IPFW. I’m thankful for the opportunities that have come my way through my design clients. In 2008 I was offered the wedding coordinator position at my home church. I was very nervous just thinking about it! I wasn’t sure that I could handle the responsibility of coordinating a wedding day! After much prayer, I accepted the position. It only took a couple months of wedding coordinating to realize that this was my life’s calling. I love working with happy brides and the ever changing design opportunities with each beautiful wedding.

Amy: How long have you been in the wedding business?
Cami: Although I’ve been helping with weddings since the 90’s, I officially started my business in 2011. That’s when Cambria Custom Events, LLC became official. As I began my career as a wedding ceremony coordinator, I yearned for more involvement in the entire wedding day process. I earned my event planning certification and created Cambria Custom Events, LLC.

Amy: What gave you the desire to start Cambria Custom Events?
Cami: I have observed many “stressed out” brides through the years. In my heart, I knew it didn’t need to be that way if they had someone to counsel and direct them. They needed someone they could trust to lead them through the wedding planning process. My desire at Cambria Custom Events is to serve each bride to the best of my ability. I want each of my brides to experience an enchanting wedding day that is beautiful, well organized and free of stress.

Amy: What is your favorite part of your job?
Cami: I have three:
– Working with excited brides
– Planning and executing beautiful custom design plans for ceremonies and receptions
– Organizing the many different pieces of a wedding to fit together perfectly

Amy: What services do you offer?
Cami: I offer total event planning and management or I can help with certain aspects of a wedding day:
– Event consultation
– Event design planning and implementation
– Time management
– Event budget planning
– Wedding ceremony planning and coordination
– Wedding rehearsal coordination
– Reception planning and coordination
– Vendor expertise, planning and scheduling (I have a list of preferred vendors whom I fully trust and love to work with!)
– Décor set up and removal

Amy: How far in advance should a bride book your services?
Cami: I’ve planned weddings in as little as three months. I also have brides that contact me more than a year in advance.

Amy: How do you help brides capture the vision of their wedding day?
Cami: The best thing about planning a wedding is turning the vision of my bride into a reality. I LOVE to see a plan come together. I closely consult with each bride and listen to what her dream is for her wedding day. We take ideas that she has pinned on Pinterest and customize them as her own. We use ideas that she has appreciated at other weddings and personalize them for her and her groom. I like to add special touches that make the wedding design specifically their own!

Amy: What are some of the biggest trends coming for 2015 weddings?
Cami: –
Mixed metallic’s are in for 2015. This makes me very happy. Every wedding needs a little bling!
– Cleaner lines and sophistication is going to be really popular in 2015
– Stripes! Again, clean lines. I love the bold look of navy and white or black and white stripes.
– Jewel tones are back. We saw a lot of champagne, blush pinks and corals in 2014. Brides are adding deeper color options for 2015.
– Fresh greenery garlands, instead of typical fresh flower centerpieces, are going to be a popular option in 2015 for guest table décor at wedding receptions.  I’m planning to use this idea at a couple of my 2015 receptions.
Amy: What are some trends that are fading?
Cami: Although I appreciate a well-executed design plan for a rustic wedding, the trend is on its way out. The use of burlap and lace is not going to be seen as much in 2015. However, lace bridal gowns are still very popular! The use of silver won’t be as popular in 2015 as it was in 2014. Brides are choosing gold as their metallic of choice.
