As I look through these photos this morning, my heart is full. Unless you have witnessed Dancing with the Arc Stars in person, there is no way to describe the emotion felt in the ballroom each year. I am blessed to be able to partner with Easter Seals Arc to capture this special event. Each year it is one of my highlights.
If you are new to my blog, you may be wondering what this is all about. Looking through the event program I found this description. “Dancing With the Arc Stars is a unique event that partners local celebrities with our ballroom dancers. Its purpose is to enhance the quality of life for people with disabilities by educating them in a community activity that develops self-esteem, social skills, independence and mental and physical health. Ballroom dancing provides physical exercise, intellectual stimulation and social interaction between diverse groups.”
The ballroom dancers from Arc have a very special place in my heart. We all know each other by name and hugs abound when we’re all together. Each dance couple is paired with their partner at a meet and greet three months prior. We meet, take photos and the couples start their dance rehearsal scheduling. Jeanne Cross of Tiffany & Co., and Charles Badrov, Carmen Schlatter and Patric Didier of Fred Estaire Dance Studio begin mentoring the couples. The mentors donate their time and talents as they teach dance skills. Since I have had a front row seat to this event every year, I can attest to this…. the dances become more elaborate every year. They are breathtaking to watch!
This year we said goodbye to Valerie Magana of Easter Seals Arc. She is leaving her position at Arc and will be sorely missed. Thank you, Valerie, for putting your heart and soul into this event the last 6 years. Big thanks to my second shooter, Maggie, for helping me capture the event. It was so much fun to have you.
Enjoy these highlights of a beautiful event. If you were at the event and would like access to all of the photos please email me directly at firstname.lastname@example.org.
