Indianapolis, IN Wedding – Jay and Jenna

Jay and Jenna’s wedding was nothing short of spectacular. I knew it would be, there was no doubt in my mind. As a photographer I have the lucky job of watching the wedding day unfold up close and personal.   Then as I go through each and every image I get to relive the day.  This particular wedding was… well…perfect.  Really, it was.  As I went through the photos I had several thoughts. Jay and Jenna’s entire day was so God-filled, classy, elegant and joyful.

The church itself was decorated with white Christmas lights and they added such pretty, navy up-lighting.  The day was a Winter wonderland. It was an actual Winter wonderland outside and the decor inside suited perfectly.

Jay and Jenna envisioned outdoor photos for their day and decided that even though it was bitter cold they truly wanted that look. I wanted it for them as well.  We did the photos in rotations sending bridesmaids to the cars to warm up while photographing groomsmen etc. I rotated my cameras as well to keep the process clipping along.  Jay and Jenna used McNamara Florist and they gave the advice ahead of time not to allow the flowers in the extreme cold. We were all thankful for their professional advice.  I loved the elegance of the baby’s breath bouquets and a flower that I haven’t seen in a long time, Stephanotis.  I am so glad it’s making a comeback.

I do have to give a big thank you to Jenna’s dad, Jim.  He went to our outdoor location ahead of time and shoveled the sidewalks so we could maneuver as easy as possible.  Thank you, Jim.  It was appreciated by all of us.

As I edited the reception I smiled so much. The fun speeches, the fun and crazy surprise flash mob after the parent dances, the serenade from the Purdue Glee club, it was all so terrific.  And not to mention, Jenna has thee best facial expressions.

All in all Jay and Jenna’s wedding was the perfect way to start wedding season 2015.  It was such an honor to be there.  The warm hospitality of their family and friends made it so special.

Here are a few highlights of their day.

Much love to the newlyweds,

~Amy

Meet the newlyweds: Jay and Jenna
Wedding Date: January 10, 2015Location: Trinity Church – Indianapolis, IN
Reception: The Forum Conference and Events Center – Fishers, IN

How they met: Jay and Jenna met at Purdue freshman year through Purdue Musical Organizations in 2010.  They had to arrive at campus a week earlier than other freshmen to learn the music and go to camp.  Through that week at camp they got to know each other and there was an instant spark.  Amazingly enough, they were dating within ten days of meeting and have been together ever since.

Engagement: Jay wanted to totally surprise Jenna with the engagement.  He decided to get the ring over Christmas break Senior year when they were both home so Jenna would be out of the loop.  Jay was also able to have the “talk” with her dad over break without Jenna knowing either. Then on Valentine’s day he visited her in her 5th grade classroom where she was student teaching.  To her surprise he sang “How Sweet It Is” to her in front of her students and proposed.  Jenna was beyond ecstatic and totally surprised that Jay had been planning this in secret the whole time.

Favorite wedding day memories:  Jenna- The first look with both her dad and Jay.  She stated that, “It was just amazing to see their loving and encouraging smiles to truly make me feel beautiful.  The two most important men in my life started off the wedding celebration in a perfect way!”  She also loved singing to Jay during the ceremony with the other Purduettes in attendance.
Jay”s favorite part was definitely when Jenna walked down the aisle.  Jay stated that, “she looked absolutely gorgeous and he could not hold back the tears.  He also loved the choreographed dance to the song “Happy” during the reception and when the Glee Club got down on one knee and sang “When I Fall In Love” to the lovely bride.
