Marie & Boone

Every so often I meet people who have such a special, life changing story that I just have to let them share it.  Recently, Andrew contacted me to do photo for his company called, Marie and Boone. I had no idea at the time what I was photographing until he told me his story. Now, it’s time for you to know about Marie and Boone too.

Marie and Boone is so much more than the beautiful HOME + LOVE signs that Andrew so beautifully handcrafts, there is a story and meaning behind the company. His full story is on the Marie Boone website here.

Thank you, Andrew and Lisa for allowing me to photograph your precious kids. They were a true joy. I wish you nothing but success and happiness as you start your new journey with Marie & Boone.

Much love,

Amy

Where did the inspiration for Marie & Boone come from?

The inspiration for my company came from a dash of purpose and a pinch of chasing dreams. Last year, I was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of cancer. That battle was filled with hard-learned lessons, to say the least. This experience changed my perspective on life and I hope to share that with others through our mission – Creating ways to carry hope during the pursuit of happiness
How did the name for your company come to be?
One of the things cancer took from my life is the ability to father more children. Luckily enough, I was blessed with two beautiful kiddos before this happened. The company is dedicated and named after them – Makenna Marie & Daxton Boone.

What new and exciting ventures await Marie & Boone? Along the same lines where do you see your company in one year?

This company started in our house. We were living in our hometown of Portland at the time. One room was my office where I designed, assembled and shipped. Our basement was filled with metal shavings and welding slag, and I had a bedroom upstairs designated for all my woodworking. This haphazard setup wasn’t ideal, but it got us off the ground and led us to where we are now – which is a 60,000 sq. ft commercial building in Elkhart, IN filled with character and inspiration. It was an old dress factory that has been completely restored. I have a little nook carved out in the second story, and I’m surrounded by great companies and people doing awesome things. I’m not exactly sure what’s in store for us in a year, but if it has grown this much in just a few months – I can’t wait to see what the future holds!

How are you able to help young ones with cancer, through Marie & Boone?

When we moved, we sold almost everything we owned along with our house. Actually, I’m answering these questions from our little RV kitchen table which doubles as our full time home. The idea is to live off less which will in turn allow for giving more back. This freedom allows me to spend more time and money creating ways to encourage and motivate the young and brave fighting cancer. For example, I’ve been collaborating with an artist from Cape Town, South Africa for the past several months and we’ve been working on some amazing projects together for the kids at Riley that I’m really excited to launch!

Thank you, Andrew.   I am so happy that I got to meet you and your family! You are all an inspiration. All the best to you!!  Amy
